African Meals

First time cracking open coconuts...not sure if they were just not good ones but they do not taste how we thought they would. A little bland.
Ghanaian doughnut called bofrot or togbei

I found this recipe on a blog called BetumiBlog via Pinterest. Lots of other recipes we are planning on trying still. They all look so yummy! http://betumiblog.blogspot.ca/2009/11/recipe-28b-african-doughnut-cake.html Recipe posted under my recipe tab.

My little cooks <3
What a trooper her eyes were watering so bad. I asked her if she wanted me to take over and she said "no this is my job, I will finish" She cut the whole onion by herself with her sister patting her eyes with a cold wash cloth!

Bobotie, VERY GOOD. The recipe for this one came from The Usborne Internet-Linked Children World Cookbook! Lots of ingredients in this recipe.
                                                              Liberian Rice Bread
Recipe is under the recipe tab.

                                                                  Baked Bananas

We did half with lime juice and brown sugar and the other half with lemon and brown sugar.Baked for 20 minutes at 325 degrees. No one in our house liked the lime but the lemon was a winner!

  1. Very neat! And you shared the recipes also! Grandma not sure about the top picture, don't think I would have been brave enough to hold that coconut while you, my lovely daughter, whacked it open. The bananas look good and the donuts. What a wonderful way to learn!
